The 2026 Conference
The 2nd edition of AfreGov is scheduled for 2nd–3rd December 2026, to be held at the Tayo Aderinokun Conference Centre, University of Lagos, Nigeria, centred on the theme “Building Africa through Artificial Intelligence for Public Service Innovation.”
This theme places Artificial Intelligence at the heart of Africa’s public administration, economic planning, healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure development and financial inclusion. AfreGov 2026 brings together senior public-service officials, policymakers, academics, technology leaders and development partners to examine how AI can be harnessed deliberately and responsibly — strengthening institutions, improving public services and driving inclusive, sustainable transformation, while keeping African priorities, knowledge systems, languages and cultures at the centre of the journey.
Meet our Co-hosts
The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is a specialized agency of the African Union that promotes good governance, democracy, and socioeconomic development through a voluntary peer review process among member states. By fostering transparency, accountability, and institutional reforms, the APRM advances Africa’s governance architecture. Its mission aligns with the broader objectives of AfreGov and, more specifically, with the theme of the AfreGov 2026 conference, which seeks to harness digital transformation as a driver of governance and sustainable development in Africa.
AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria brings a strategic development-implementation dimension, connecting AI and digital transformation with Africa’s broader development priorities and the implementation of Agenda 2063 — translating technology, research and policy into practical development programmes, institutional transformation and human-capital advancement.
UNU-EGOV supports the United Nations system and Member States in transforming governance mechanisms through the strategic application of digital technologies. Its work combines research, policy advice and capacity development, with its 2025–2029 strategy placing digital governance, evidence-based policy and support to the Global South at the centre of its mission.
The Centre for Digital Humanities provides the academic, research and knowledge-production dimension of the Conference — ensuring the focus extends beyond technology adoption to scholarship, evidence generation, African knowledge systems, culture, language and society.
PSSDC brings a strong public-service capacity-development and institutional-transformation perspective, equipping public servants with the knowledge, leadership capabilities and organisational readiness required to operate effectively in an AI-enabled environment.
Good Governance Africa is a research and advocacy organisation focused on improving governance across the continent through applied research, policy engagement, strategic partnerships and practical reform support — grounded in transparency, accountability, the rule of law and citizen empowerment.
AAPAM is a leading professional organisation promoting best practice, excellence and professionalism in public administration and management across Africa, bringing together public administrators, managers, scholars and educators from across the continent.
The Association of Communications and Telecommunications Regulators of Portuguese Speaking Countries (ARCTEL) adds a distinctive Regulation, Connectivity and Digital Trust dimension — contributing regulatory dialogue on connectivity, digital inclusion, cybersecurity, data governance and digital trust between Portuguese-speaking countries and the wider African regulatory community.

The Venue
The Tayo Aderinokun Conference Centre, University of Lagos will serve as the venue for AfreGov 2026. Located within one of Nigeria’s leading universities, the venue seats up to 1,000 delegates, providing an ideal environment for bringing together government officials, academics, researchers, technology leaders and development stakeholders. Hosting the Conference at the University of Lagos reinforces the proposition that Africa’s AI transformation must be built through partnership between government, academia, industry and society — connecting public policy with research, innovation and knowledge production
The center can cater for over 1,000 delegates in theater-style seating within its exhibition center. Among the facilities in the auditorium are cutting-edge technology and ergonomically designed seats.
